The Times of London on Nikhil Banerjee c. 1978
Nikhil played like an angel on the sitar, and I cannot imagine a single member of the audience not wanting many more hours of such brilliant music. His exposition of Raga Yaman, which began the evening, was the most inspired playing on the sitar I have heard in years The precision with which he stated the basic structure in the early notes and without any further loss of time or melody arrived midstream into creativity was a delight. And the mood was maintained.
